The Connector is not detected
The browser cannot find the Connector on this machine at all.
The browser cannot find a Connector on this machine at all — a different problem from Tally not answering.
"Connector not detected on this machine"
OptiVida looked for the Connector locally and found nothing listening.
The four causes, in order of likelihood
It is not running
Look in the notification area by the clock, behind the
^arrow. If it is not there, start it from the Start menu. You are on a different computer
The browser and the Connector must be on the same machine. Working from a laptop while the Connector sits on the office desktop will not reach it.
It was closed rather than hidden
If Closing the window keeps it running is switched off, the close button quits it. Start it again, and consider turning that setting back on.
It is not installed
Download it from SettingsTally connector.
Then choose Re-check on the connector settings page.
A quick way to tell them apart
- Connector not detected
OptiVida cannot see the Connector. Nothing to do with Tally.
- Tally not reachable
The Connector is running and answering — Tally is not.
If the Connector's own window opens and shows a status, it is running, and this is not your problem.
Tip
If it is running and still not detected
- A second browser profile or a private window
Should not matter, but try an ordinary window on the same machine.
- Security software
Some endpoint protection blocks a web page from reaching a local program. Your IT support will know.
- A reinstall
Running the installer over an existing installation is safe, and your pairing survives it.
Certificates do not need it
If you are blocked and need to issue something today, certificates are typed in and use no Tally at all.
