Installing on Windows
Downloading the installer, running it, and finding the Connector in your notification area.
Installing takes a couple of minutes, and is done once on the machine where Tally lives.
Download it
Open Settings in OptiVida
SettingsTally connectorChoose Download connector (Windows)
The page also shows whether a Connector is already running on this machine.
Run the installer
Windows may ask you to confirm before running a newly downloaded program.
After it installs
The Connector opens its setup screens and then settles into the notification area — the row of small icons by the clock, sometimes behind the ^ arrow.
It does not put a window on screen every time you sign in to Windows. That is deliberate: it is a background service, and it opens when you click its icon.
The icon colour is the status
Grey means not paired. Green means everything is reachable. Amber means Tally or OptiVida is not answering. Red means neither is. You can read the state without opening anything.
Two steps still to go
Installing is the first of three. The Connector will not be useful until both of these are done:
The step most people miss. Tally will not answer until you switch it on.
Pair your deviceLinks this computer to your OptiVida account, once.
Reinstalling
Running the installer again over an existing installation is safe, and is the fix support will suggest if the Connector is behaving oddly. Your pairing survives it.
Tip
If OptiVida still says it cannot see the Connector after installing, see The Connector is not detected.
