What you need before you start

A CA profile, a client, and — for anything that reads Tally — the Connector. The checklist every module refers back to.

Three things stand between a new account and a finished document. This page is the checklist the rest of the documentation refers back to.

A CA profile

The identity printed on what you issue: your name, firm, FRN, membership number, designation and place. OptiVida asks for one before it lets you do anything else, because a certificate without it would have nobody signing it.

You can keep several — one per firm you sign for — and choose which to use at the moment you issue.

Tip

What a CA profile is covers what each field means and where it appears on the page.

A client

The business or individual the document is about. Added once, then reused: their PAN, address and other particulars fill themselves in every time, and everything you produce for them collects on their page.

For CMA reports, tax audit reports and financial statements the client is not optional — those are started from the client, not from the menu.

The Tally Connector, for anything that reads your books

Tally runs on your computer. A browser cannot reach it on its own, so OptiVida uses a small Windows program that sits between the two.

CertificatesNo Connector needed

You type the figures in. You can issue one on a machine that has never seen Tally.

Financial statementsConnector required

Built from the year's trial balance.

CMA reportsConnector required, or an ITR JSON

Fetched from Tally, read from an income tax return, or typed in.

Tax audit reportsConnector required

Fetched from Tally, or entered manually.

Installing it takes a few minutes and is done once per computer. Tally must be running on that same machine, with the company loaded, at the moment you fetch.

Tip

Start at Installing on Windows. The step most people miss is the one after it — Tally will not answer until connectivity is switched on inside Tally itself.

Credits, at the moment you generate

Generating a document costs credits. Nothing before that point does: adding clients, filling a wizard, fetching from Tally, reviewing figures and saving drafts are all free, and you can work as long as you like before spending anything.

New accounts start with a balance to try the product on.

Note

You are shown the exact cost in the confirmation before a generation runs, so there is no way to spend credits without seeing the figure first.

The short version

  1. Sign in and create a CA profile

OptiVida walks you through this on first sign-in.

  2. Add the client

Name and PAN are enough to begin; the rest can follow.

  3. Install and pair the Connector

Only if you need statements, a CMA report or a tax audit. Skip it for certificates.

  4. Make something

Certificates from New at the top of any page; everything else from the client.
