Reviewing the ledgers

The workspace lists every line, and each needs a ledger before it can be posted. Suggestions get you most of the way; you decide the rest.

Where suggestions come from

Click Suggest ledgers. Every undecided line goes through three tiers, in order, and stops at the first that answers:

A previous decision

You have approved a line like this before, for this client and this bank ledger. The same ledger is suggested. Nothing an AI said is ever remembered — only what you approved.

A rule

The narration is unmistakable — bank charges, interest credited, an ATM withdrawal, TDS — and exactly one ledger in the company answers to it.

AI

Everything else. The model is shown the narration, the direction, the amount and the company's actual ledger list, and must choose from that list or decline.

A line the AI declines, or picks for with low confidence, stays under Needs a decision. That is deliberate: a declined line costs you a click; a confident wrong one costs a voucher in the books.

Deciding a line

Choose a ledger from the picker on the line, or tick the suggested one. The picker is the company's ledger list, searchable, grouped by Tally group. Nothing can be typed into it.

Choosing a ledger approves the line and does two more things:

• applies to similar lines — every other undecided line with the same narration pattern and direction gets the same ledger and is approved with it;
• is remembered — the next statement for this client and bank ledger will suggest it as a previous decision.

Approve all suggested accepts every suggestion at once. Use it after a glance down the Suggested filter.

Correcting

An approved line can be sent back with the undo control on its row, then decided again. Correcting a line also corrects what is remembered.

What you see on each line

Date

The transaction date. Under it, the line number and the voucher type: Receipt, Payment or Contra, worked out from the direction and the ledger's group.

Narration

The bank's text, verbatim. Hover for the whole thing and the page it came from.

Ledger

The decision, or the suggestion waiting for one. Until the line is approved, a tag beside it says where the ledger came from: Memory, Rule, AI with its confidence, Low when the confidence is too low to rely on, or Rejected when Tally refused it. Hover over or focus the tag for the full reason; on a phone it is written out on the line.

Status

Needs a decision, Suggested, Approved, Posted, or Failed with Tally's reason.
