Adding, editing and choosing a profile

Keeping more than one identity, setting a default, and picking one at the moment you issue.

Keeping more than one signing identity, and choosing between them.

Where they live

SettingsCA profiles

Each profile is a card that reads like the signature block it prints: the name, then designation, firm, FRN, membership number and place. The default is tagged Default; every other card has Set as default. Edit is on every card, and Delete is under its … button.

Adding one

  1. Choose Add profile

The Add CA profile panel opens at the side of the page.

  2. Fill in the six fields

CA name, Firm name, FRN, Designation, Membership no. and Place. All are required — an incomplete signatory block is not useful on a document.

  3. Choose Save profile

Switch on Set as default profile first if this is the one you sign under most.

The default

One profile is the default and is pre-selected wherever a document asks which firm is issuing. Set it to whichever you sign under most.

Changing the default does not touch anything already issued.

Choosing at the moment of issue

CertificatesReview & Issue

Select Issuing CA Firm, alongside the UDIN.

Financial statementsBasic Info

The signatory block — audit firm, FRN, membership number, signing date.

Tax audit reportsPart A

Carried into the Form 3CB particulars.

So the default is a convenience, not a constraint. Change it per document where a different partner or firm signs.

When to keep several

Two firms

You sign under more than one firm registration.

Two partners

Different partners sign different classes of work.

A change of designation

Keep the old profile while documents issued under it are still current.

Editing

Edit a profile and the new particulars apply to documents issued from then on. Documents already issued keep the particulars they carried when they were signed.

Warning

That is deliberate, and it is what you want. A certificate states who signed it and in what capacity as at its date. Rewriting that because a designation changed afterwards would misstate the document.

If a profile was genuinely wrong when a document was issued, reissue the document rather than expecting the correction to propagate.
