Exporting the PDF
Producing the document, what the file is named, and when the credit is charged.
Exporting produces the PDF. The certificate was charged when you submitted the wizard, so exporting, and exporting again, costs nothing.
Exporting
Choose Export PDF, in the bar along the foot of the editor. OptiVida renders the page you are looking at, saves your edits with it, downloads the file and takes you back to the certificate's page.
Generating this certificate costs credits. You are shown the exact cost in the confirmation before it runs, and the current price list is on Settings → Credits and billing.
Page margins
The margins come from your preferences, and apply to everything you generate. Change them at SettingsPreferences if your practice's letterhead needs different ones.
Note
Set them once, before your first certificate. Changing margins later does not reformat certificates already exported — you would need to export a fresh version.
The file
Named for the certificate and stamped with the time it was produced, so successive versions of the same certificate sort in order and do not overwrite one another.
The PDF is delivered as page images, so its text cannot be selected, searched or copied out of it. That is deliberate: what leaves your practice is the page you signed off, not editable text. If a recipient needs a machine-readable file, ask support.
Where the pages break
The pages break where the editor shows them breaking, and the PDF holds the same pages. Each enclosed Statement or Annexure starts on a new page, and the signature block moves to the next page as a whole rather than leaving the membership number and UDIN on their own.
Within that, the breaks follow these rules:
- A heading goes with what follows it. A heading, a schedule's caption, or a line the certificate marks to stay with the next (every line of a signature block but the last) is not left at the foot of a page: it moves to the next page with what follows it. It stays where it is, ending the page as before, in three cases: you placed a page break straight after it; the headings and marked lines that would move together take more than half the space inside the page's margins; or what follows could not start the next page with them, because it neither fits whole on that page nor can be split there by the two rules below. A moved heading never ends up alone on a page.
- A schedule's header rows go with its first row. A schedule is never split so that only its header rows are left at the foot of a page; it moves to the next page with its first row. The one exception is a schedule that is already the first thing on its page and whose first row is too tall to share a page with its header: it breaks after the header, as it always did, and its remaining rows still continue row by row.
- Header rows are not repeated. A schedule that continues onto another page does not repeat its header rows there, in the editor or in the PDF.
- Two lines either side of a split. A paragraph split across pages keeps at least two lines on each page. A paragraph of three lines or fewer is never split; it moves whole.
- The page after a split is measured from its top. The lines a split paragraph carries onto the next page count towards that page, so its last block still ends inside the margins: the editor never overfills it, and the PDF breaks it in the same place.
Certificates saved before 30 September 2026 printed their headings, captions and signature lines as short lines in bold, without the marks newer certificates carry. The editor reads a short line set entirely in bold as a heading, so those certificates follow the same rules, with one exception: the last line of a signature block (usually the UDIN; the membership number, place or date when that comes last) is never kept with what follows, so the signature block can still end a page. In every certificate, old or new, each line of the signature block but the last stays with the next, and opening and saving the certificate, however often, does not change that.
Note
To move a break yourself, insert a page break in the editor. The breaks the export works out are not saved with the certificate; only the ones you place are.
Exporting again is free
A certificate is charged once, ever: when you submit the wizard. Correct a typo, export again, and nothing further is deducted, however many times you do it.
Tip
This is unlike a CMA report, where every generated version is charged. See What you are charged for.
Every export is kept
Each appears in the certificate's document history, and you can download an earlier file at any time. Nothing is overwritten.
That matters when a client comes back months later: the file you gave them is still there, exactly as issued.
If a figure was wrong
Do not fix it in the editor. Go back through the wizard so the totals recompute, then export a new version.
Warning
A number typed over in the editor prints, but the certificate's data still holds the old one. The net worth total will not agree with the schedule, and the discrepancy will follow you into the next version.
